The Forestlines® system is a revolutionary cladding system that combines untreated (!) wood with aluminium to achieve the "unachievable" fire reaction class B.
Unseen results are achieved with untreated wood
Aluminium is the best conductor of heat after gold, silver and copper, while wood is an insulator. The aluminium strip reduces the combustible area per square metre, less heat is developed and there is transfer between the excellent insulating wood and superconductor aluminium, which absorbs heat, diffuses it and even provides cooling.
The idea behind this innovative cladding and roofing system was born out of an encounter with the outer limits of the feasible: it proved virtually impossible to make untreated wood fire-resistant according to the European fire criteria of fire reaction class B.
Through years of testing and research, we managed to achieve this unachievable class with untreated wood. Meanwhile, we have about ten wood species that we can optimise to fire reaction class B.
The integration of a small aluminium extrusion profile (±70% recycled) puts wood back at the top of the list of façade materials as an untreated raw material and even as the most ecological raw material. Also, wood is is of the most circular products on our planet, and it is considered the number 1 in bio-based materials. It can be reused on another facade, but is also recyclable.
